Who can become a member?

Regular membership in MANA is available to professional manufacturers’ agents. Associate membership is encouraged for manufacturers and others who wish to support the representative method of going to market. Associate members receive all the benefits of membership except voting and office-holding privileges. Whether you become a regular or associate member, your involvement, feedback and participation in MANA is critical for the enhancement of the agency/principal relationship and its future course.

What are the benefits of MANA membership?

Agency Sales magazine

    Description: Monthly magazine with articles educating members about different ways of operating their businesses, classified ads and other useful information.

    How do I get it? Your membership automatically includes an annual subscription. Just pick it up in your mailbox every month. Click here for more information.

Online Directory

    Description: Listing of all MANA agent, manufacturer and other members. A resource to help manufacturers find reps and vice-versa. Easy to use options will bring up a downloadable list of agencies or principals meeting search criteria.

    How do I get it? A listing in the directory is included in your membership. We suggest you log on to the online directory, register using your ID and check your listing to make sure it’s correct. Click here for information on the MANA Online Directory.

Promotion of the rep way of doing business with manufacturers

    Description: A behind-the-scenes effort by MANA to educate businesses, academia, government and the public about the benefits of outsourcing the sales function.

    How do I get it? It’s also included in the membership. Some of your dues support efforts by MANA to get the word out about the benefits of using reps. We’ve put on programs all over North America, India, China, South Korea and Germany in the past few years.

Representing members at the state and national political levels

    Description: MANA is a founding member of the Small Business Legislative Council (SBLC), which tracks and influences what’s happening in Washington. We also help promote legislation beneficial to members at the state level.

    How do I get it? Another benefit automatically supported by your dues. In the event we have some important news regarding legislation you should know about, we will e-mail members with an alert. You can also check on legislation important to MANA members through our web site (click here).

Contract guidelines

    Description: Business relationships must always be formalized in a written contract. MANA has guidelines for rep/principal, rep/sub-rep, employee of rep and international contracts.

MANA educational seminars

Telephone counseling

    Description: Members can call MANA to discuss issues and problems. An annual one-time 20 minute, no-charge call to an attorney experienced in rep law is also included if you have a legal question. Call MANA for details.

MANA Matters newsletter

    Description: A monthly electronic newsletter highlighting important issues and events.

Commission Protection Acts

    Description: Over 30 states have laws protecting reps from principals who are not paying commissions when due.

    How do I get it? Available to MANA members through the MANA Member Area of our web site. Non-members can purchase two states for $30 by calling MANA toll-free at (877) 626-2776.

    Description: The Certified Professional Manufacturers’ Representative program is presented by the Institute for Professional Advancement.
