As part of your membership benefits, MANA provides access to online professional development/educational resources. We designed these resources to help you improve how you run your businesses and increase profitability. And there lies a problem — MANA staff designed them, thinking we know what’s best for our members.
We want to recruit a group of 25 volunteers to form a “Professional Development Council” (PDC). The PDC goal is to help MANA create professional development/educational resources based on what members want, not on what we think you want. We are looking for members who can offer creative improvements to this program.
Specifically, these are the questions we want the PDC volunteers to answer:
- Does the PDC agree with the overall premise of our current offering: “The more you develop as a professional manufacturers’ representative, the more successful you become”? If not, what should the goal be?
- If yes, does the PDC agree with the 12 criteria MANA selected to identify professionalism? Should we add others or delete any? Define “professionalism.”
- Within each criterion, do the resources we provide adequately provide the education members need to improve in that area? What improvements can the PDC recommend?
- How do we market and promote the professional development program to members so they use it and increase profitability?
We appreciate the fact you lead very busy lives, so we want to keep the time involvement to a minimum. We plan to send short e-mail survey questions every few weeks as the way to access your feedback. We also expect there may be times when a PDC member may not be able to respond within the allotted time. Because of the proposed PDC size, we accept that and believe that what a significant number agrees on works for us.
